Christmas is a religious holiday, a industrial holiday and a house time. It is the season when perfectly sane, or so it would seem until now, adults effort to correspond with 100 citizen they may not have heard from or seen all year. It's a time to re-connect. Ideally, we write hand written letters to contain in each card or at least a hand written note. Unfortunately many of us, myself included, write a general modernize letter and contain a copy with every card. At least a general modernize letter conveys the news of the year. The letter represents a gift of communication.

Christmas is more than gifts, it is also traditions. One of my treasured traditions in Steamboat is the torch light parade. The whole ski school educator staff, ski patrol and other privileged accomplished skiers achieve the torch light parade. We started at the top of the mountain in pitch black. Zero lights on the slopes. We each carried a torch. When you think 50 to 60 citizen with torches and sparks flying, you soon learn to wear something other than your popular ski outfit. Dream these skiers skiing down the mountain and performing discrete designs as they travel. Such a spectacular sight. We ski right down the face of the mountain from the gondola in full view of a crowd at the base of the mountain. Skiing in the dark presents a challenge, add the fact that you are retention a torch in the air and skiing in and out of formations at the same time. Such a beautiful and precision sight, from the bottom, but a bit different when you are the one on skis conducting the moves. Fortunately I have never seen whatever slip and fall. This would not be the ideal time for a domino effect.

Another Steamboat tradition is the lighted man. The tradition started in the 1940s by Claudius Banks. Claudius started skiing down Howelsen Hill ski mountain with road flares strapped to his suit. The tradition started during the now-famous Steamboat Winter Carnival. His son Jon joined him in 1971 and the duo skied together until 1978. Jon has since moved away; however, he returns to Steamboat every year for Winter Carnival. It takes Jon 100 hours to rig his Nomex racing suit and another 100 hours with the pyrotechnic team to prepare for the 10 dinky run. He has rockets shooting from a halo around his head, rockets from the back of both shoulders, lights from the toe of his boots all the way up to his waist, lights exterior his ski poles and flares shooting from the top of his ski poles. The controls for all of these fireworks are placed in the handles of his ski poles. Oh, he also skis down in the dark. Talk about lighting up the holiday and carrying on a house tradition.

Family traditions form the basis of so my holidays. One of my personal favorites consisted of cookie baking. I remember endless hours in the kitchen with my mother baking. Mom's popular holiday treats were fudge, divinity and peanut brittle; however, we also baked several varieties of decorated sugar cookies and other delectable sweet treats. Mom learned to bake without recipes so she taught me art of creativity and instinct for baking. It served me so well that later in life I in effect owned, operated and did the bulk of the baking for a industrial bakery. Mom also taught me to sing acappella during our baking time. Extraordinary benefits from a house holiday tradition.

I carried the cookie baking tradition send with my two sons. They pulled a chair up to the counter and "helped" by pouring in ingredients, mixing and dropping the cookies on to the cookie sheet. Not in effect obvious if their popular part was mixing, dipping a finger in to the dough, decorating or eating the warm cookies.

Drawing Your Own Model Car

You have done it what seems like a thousand times. You buy a new model car, open the box, assemble, paint, and then done and on to the next one. Yes, it can be rewarding in its own way the first several times you get a model out with its neat list of directions and pictures to effect along with. What happens if you rule to do something a minuscule bit different though? What if you want to develop some of your own customizations for your new model? The best way to think through the customizations you are considering is to draw them out. A sketch drawing will allow you to try out different looks before you actually begin the construction process that way you won't have to worry about something not working out and having to be cut loose or changed after it has already been attached to the model car.

What you will need to do this is just a pencil and a consolidate sheets of paper. The first thing you should do is to sketch a photo of the car as it would look fully assembled. Work from the pictures on the box or in the directions if necessary. This will give you a good base to work from. Once you begin drawing your different ideas for your changes you should do so down the margins of the paper nearest the part of the car to receive the new treatments. This will allow you to begin visualizing what those changes will look like once the car is finished. One thing to remember is that you should not just draw one convert for each section. Get creative and sketch out a few different ideas for each part you wish to change. This will allow you some leeway in your creative process.

You will also want to draw your model car from several different angles or views. This will allow you to see your intended modifications as they will appear and to see exactly how they can best be adapted to the car. Something else to consider is that by customizing your car like this on paper before you actually begin the assembly process will also let you experiment with different paint schemes as well. By using colored pencils to add color to your sketch you can try out many different styles such as adding flames or pin striping without having to try it out on your model first.

Once you have chosen the different modifications that you wish to consolidate into your model sketch the closed develop out on a cut off piece of paper along with the paint job you are going to use. What activity Figures Are Collectible?

What's Collectible? How do you know which performance figures are collectible or will be collectible? Much of it is guess work or gut feeling. Part of it is an educated guess. A big part is knowing your shop and target audience. So...

What added advice and help can I give you? In short this easy guide is to help You make the decision based on my 15 years in the business.The simplest, easiest and biggest piece of advice I can give you is to remember:

"Today's toys are tomorrow's collectibles" Let me interpret that statement a little more. What are the kids into Now? What drives their imagination? What games, cartoons, and comic books do they want? Which toys, games etc. Will be the estimate one on this years Christmas lists?

These are the thing that are likely to be the collectibles of the future, the things that will be selling good money in other 10-20 years.

Why? Simply, because the collectors shop is basically driven by nostalgia. Look at today's most necessary and collectible items. They're commonly what were favorite when we were kids (or at least when I was a kid!).

Good examples of this are they huge shop for Friday the 13th, nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween and Chucky collectibles. All of these are huge cult movies from the 80's.

Then there are the Star Wars toys and Pokemon collectibles. G.I. Joes, performance Man, He-Man, Masters of the Universe and Thunderbirds.

It's the memories attached to these toys and programs that makes them collectible now, as well as the desire to have what we couldn't have as kids.

So, what do I think will be tomorrow's hot collectibles?

Looking at today's markets I would think that the anime/manga series Naruto and Bleach will come to be more favorite and collectible over the coming years as well as other favorite anime series such as Ghost in the Shell.

Also favorite video games such as Gears of War, Warcraft, Halo and Guitar Hero have a necessary estimate of merchandise available, many of which are highly collectible and are likely to remain favorite for many years yet.

Oh... And I nearly forgot about Ben 10. Ben 10 is other Tv animation series that seems to have come to be favorite recently and captured kids' imaginations.

And don't forget about normal, everyday items. Many of these are likely to come to be highly sought after and collectible as well.

A prime example of this phenomenon is the old Robinson jam jar labels. These featured a golliwog and were on Every jar produced back in the 70's.Thousands upon thousands were produced every year.

Now they sell for about 0 simply because they were banned. But who saved or collected them? Virtually no-one, because they were so common, an everyday item. Again it's the nostalgia and memories connected with them that drives' the shop and demand.

Do you remember any of the toys you had? Do you still have any of them? Where are they now? By our very nature, as kids we want to play with our toys, we aren't interested in keeping them safe and undamaged or even collecting them.

They were there to be played with. They were banged and bashed about, thrown around and mostly destroyed, broken and thrown out over the ensuing years. It's only now that we look back to them with the fondness of memories and a longing for our lost childhood.

So again it's often these things that come to be collectible and valuable. Ok, so what about little editions, low production runs or chase and variant performance figures, cards, stamps, toys or whatever that are produced today?

Again these are commonly targeted at today's collectors so are often based on past or vintage subjects, e.g. Star Wars, Thunderbirds, Elvis Presley, Battlestar Galactica etc.

Some will target new toys, games, current trends or favorite items such as Gears of War, Halo or even movies such as Hellboy.

These items will often be highly collectible initially due to their current popularity and high quiz, but will general see a dip in value after a few years and as new trends take their place, but...

If they became a favorite part of our culture and, or childhood experiences they will commonly gain in value again in the long term.

A very good example of this is the Pokemon cards. In the mid 90's they were Huge, so big in fact that I would say that every child in the world ever knew or had heard about them. Even kids in the poorest parts of Brazil were trading the cards.

But eventually, something else came along. The kids grew up and its popularity dwindled.

But now after ten years it is normally back in the top 30 searches each month. Prices of the cards are selling at a brisk rate on the auction sites and the quiz, for the old stuff is increasing. So, if you have an old Pokemon variety tucked away, maybe its time to dust it down!

This is because the kids who collected and bought it then are now "grown up" and look back at the fun days of collecting them and maybe getting some of them back again.

I know I in effect do. At the time I was Big on Pokemon. I had them All! I even had an Illustrator Pikachu and a private Mewto, two of The rarest cards.

But alas, being a trader I sold them all of, but now...

I often wish I had saved a few.

Another piece of advice is to look for niche markets. A niche shop is a master market. If you can find a small "niche" that has a loyal following then again these are likely to come to be highly collectible easy because although there is a lot less quiz, the supply or estimate of stock available will also be a lot scarcer and therefore more likely to come to be collectible or valuable.

In the long term, if you "invest" in the right things, the return in 10-20 years can be huge. in effect better than the mean return on your bank savings.

So, in order to determine what will hold it's value or growth in value you should consider:

What's favorite now.Check the top comics, cartoons, Tv programmes, films etc and look for the common themes.What are favorite household items?What games or toys do your kids and friends want and trash?What are the favorite niche markets?What has come to be part of our everyday lives, a part of our culture, our language (an excellent example here would be Google, even the term "to Google" something has come to be common) ?Consider the answers to these questions, these are the things that are likely to hold their prices and growth in value over the years.

Coming from a non-American childhood, activity toys are a novelty for me. Back in the country where my childhood passed we had totally separate toys - along with activity toys. Most of the toys were based either on cartoons or on imagination of an artists in the doll factory. There were plush animals making squeaky noises, remote-controlled tanks and lunar vehicles (Lunohod-1 was the hit); there were dolls with actually strange facial expressions that could close and open their eyes and smaller dolls that couldn't do anything but were a good throwing material.

We did not actually have that much of activity toys selection. There were tons of other stuff, but specifically activity toys - like figures from Halo, Aliens or even hockey players - no one actually concept it would be a good idea to produce. Of course, there were no Halo, neither Gears of War, nor even a single activity frame of a hockey or soccer player. And forget about Elvis, that guy was outright banned while he was still alive.

What kids did was made activity toys themselves. There was a scrapyard around my school with all kinds of telephone wire cuts and pieces scattered around. We collected the wires and weave activity figures from those wires as we saw fit. We had built armies of foot swordsmen, squadrons of horse raiders, platoons of riflemen, machine gunners and sub-machine gunners. Battles that raged on our floors were rival only to those of antique China and its terracotta armies. The best part of all of this (at least our parents appreciated this the most) the whole company was actually free. There was, however, an incentive, since all died soldiers (or rather materials they were made of) would be divided by the winner and the looser of the battle. Called that spoils of war.

These days, obviously, are not the days of toy soldier conscription. The activity toys, to paraphrase a well-known motto, are few, are proud and are very costly - at least to be bought in similar quantities. Oh, and the fun part of scouting a scrap yard for wires of primary colors and actually construction your activity frame are long gone. Instead, the activity figures - either produced by McFarlane or Neca - are almost photo realistic representations of the original, no matter be it a Nfl football player or a Halo 3 scholar Chief. Even more so, manufactured activity figures have more accessories, more movements, look better and overall, probably more fun to play with.

In all honesty, sometimes I miss the childhood with self-made activity toys, armies of wire soldiers and all the fun associated with it. On the other hand, when I see how toddlers, teenagers, and sometimes very much grown-ups are happy when they get their hands on one of the newest activity figures - or an old one they've been dreaming about for so long, I think it's a small price to pay.

Lego Batman review For Psp

Lego was part of my childhood, it was and still is an innovative toy. When you couple Lego with Batman, the supervene is an very addictive game with so many features to keep you from turning off your Psp.

I have never played Lego Star Wars but I've played Lego Indiana Jones (demo). I think Lego Indiana Jones is an average game, probably because I am not a huge fan of the series. On the other hand, I've all the time loved Batman series so its only naturally for me to love Lego Batman as well.

The story is no brainer, all your well known villains are in this game along with Penguin, Poison Ivy, Joker, Riddler, Clayface and Mr.Freeze are here terrorizing Gotham City. Your job obviously is to clean up the mess. The controls are very simple with jump, punch and switch between the two characters etc. Anything will be able to figure out the controls practically immediately. Tips will show up when you are near key areas so most of the time you will know what to do and how to get to a particular area. Player kindly is one of the reasons why I think this game is worth the money. Auto aim also exists so that your character will punch Anything is breakable (if in range).

Game play and graphics
As I mentioned the controls are easy to get a hang on, this also makes the game play more enjoyable because you can in effect Play the game instead of constantly trying to figure out what is what. I assume because the target audience is kids since its rated E for everyone. When you destroy objects, you will get Lego pieces, those are in effect your money that you can spend on upgrading your suits and other "toys". This greatly increases the replay value of this game because of the unlockable and upgradable items. After the first chapter, you are given either to continue to next chapter or back to the Batcave. Instead of picking continue which will load the next chapter, you can save the game and enter your Batcave.

After finishing the first chapter as Batman/Robin, you can then play as Riddler/Clayface by unlocking the choice in the Batcave or you can select to continue with the other two Batman episodes.

The Batcave is amazingly designed with detailed textures (when comparing to Ps2 graphics) and the cave is in effect big separated by dissimilar areas. The main area will allow you to pick one of the 3 episodes using one of Batman's vehicles which are made of Lego. You can jump from chapter to chapter and don't have to play them in order. You can also go back to the mansion and check your trophies from your accomplishments.

Aside from having detailed buildings, the characters all have detailed facial expressions as well which make the cut scenes so much more fun to watch (the cut scenes are hilarious by the way!).

Sound
The Batman themed music is pretty much from the Batman movies starred Michael Keaton (personally I think he was the best Batman) if not exactly the same. The music is so good that as I'm writing this review, its still in my head playing non stop. But I'm guessing I might get bored of it sooner or later.

Final verdict
Lego Batman is a exquisite casual game for those looking to kill some time. It might not have online component but the shear amount of unlockables will keep you playing for hours and hours. I also propose you buy this game for Psp instead of for Ps3 and/or Xbox360 because it doesn't apply the descriptive capabilities of the two next-gen consoles. So there is no point getting it for them but to get it for your Psp and even the Ds if you have one. I am sure I have not covered all things this game has to offer but I hope this helps those that are planning/thinking about getting this game a bit.

My goal here is to open your mind and originate mental in your brain. If you are buying at least 4 games a year, you could save a lot of money by renting online. I used to by at least 1-2 games a month! Now, I pay a fraction of that per year to play all of the games I could ever imagine! It, truly, is great.

It has happened to all of us. We arrive home from work or school excited to play our favorite game, we drop everything in our hands, grab the controller, and turn the Xbox 360 on. We pop the game out of the case and into the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 can either be in the vertical or horizontal stance. We slide the disc tray in either by pushing the tray or pushing the "eject" button.

The disc tray slides all the way in the law and starts to read the disc by spinning it faster and faster. All of the sudden you hear a horrific sound coming from the video game system. You rush back from the couch to the Xbox 360 and hit the eject button as fast as humanly possible. As it is ejecting your hoping you got there fast sufficient and it didn't cause any damage, but deep down inside you know it is too late and the game is damage beyond repair. You pick the disc up and gradually turn it over to see the Xbox 360 "Circular Scratch of Death". You then realize that when you originally inserted the disc somehow it became off equilibrium in the tray and when it start spinning at maximum speed it was touch the tray which caused the scratch.

You pop the game back in being very right to make sure it is sitting perfectly in the disc tray, knowing that it probably doesn't even matter now. You put the game back into the system, mental that maybe, just maybe it will still work. That the scratch isn't deep sufficient to cause a gameplay malfunction...It won't even read the disc, and if it does it skips or locks up while gameplay. There it goes, down the drain.
